Simon Palfrader is born in the city of Bormio, in the North of Italy, in 1975. Photography has always been part of his familiar experience, as his father was a photographer too, expert in shooting the natural beauties of the nature surrounding the place where they used to live.

Simon started his career as freelance photographer in 1998 and since then he has always been working with a camera. At the beginning he started his collaboration with Photo&Press agencies (mainly photos for newspapers), and then he got a specialization in the field of the sports.

A key moment of his career (2001) was the meeting with Carlo Borlenghi, a leading sailing photographer, who introduced him to the world of taking pictures of the sailing boats. Since then, Simon has been specializing in this particular field, getting important results: - Route du Rhum - IMS world Championchip 2002-2003 - Giraglia 2002-2003-2004 - Maxi Yacht 2002-2003.2004 - Sardinia 2003 - Quebec-St.Malò 2004 - Transat 2004 And other important events.
